Light Rail Products began producing parts for 1:24th scale in March of 2003. Now heading into it's 11th year, the number of products produced has increased from the original 5 kits to 35 kits, and carry few other manufactures items as well.
Light Rail Products was started largely as the result of a gap in the field of garden railway manufacturing. LRP is producing high quality, detailed and well thought out kits which can be assembled with only basic modeling skills. All of these kits are G-scale versions of products that were used on a wide variety of interurbans and streetcars (also known as Trolleys or the newest translation—Light Rail Vehicles). These parts and kits can easily be used to dress up Hartland, LGB or Bachmann cars. Plus, Northeast Narrow Gauge also produces a small variety of kits that can be transformed as well.
Our first wooden car kit is a wooden (resin cast) Steeple Cab Locomotive. A sample of this still exists in the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport, Maine. As time goes along we may offer other car kits and more parts in the future.
